Atlantic Lovage (Ligusticum scoticum) Seeds

$4.00

A packet contains 1/4 tsp, about 50 seeds.

These are local ecotype seeds grown at Edgewood Nursery, the original seed stock was collected on North Haven, Maine.

Often known as Scots Lovage. This medium sized clumping perennial is native to coasts all along the north Atlantic. They have succulent leaves that have a lovely Parsley/Celery flavor, with just a hint of brine. The seeds and roots are also edible andoffer a similar flavor. The flowers are lacy white umbells with a extended season from late summer into the fall. Despite the common name “Lovage” this plant is actually a closer relative of of Osha (Ligusticum porteri) rather then Lovage (Levisticum officinale). Atlantic Lovage thrives in full sun and well drained soil, but will tolerate partial shade. They a halophytic (loves salt) and if you live near the coast occasionally watering with dilute sea water can be helpful to growth. Seeds are short lived, so planting ASAP can be a good idea. Seeds should be just barely covered with soil.
