Seed Packets are 1 Table Spoon of Seed, seed counts range from 25-35 depending on variety. Bulk seed packs are ½ cup, ~ 200-250 seeds. Seeds should either be planted right away and protected from from rodents/freeze cycles or stored in cold, but not frozen conditions until spring, checking occasionally for mold or germination. Seeds have been treated with fungicide to minimize risk of mold.

‘Premier’ Beach Plum (Prunus maritima) - Selected from a wild population on Plum Is. MA. Premier is the largest and most successful of the beach plums I have trialed so far. Large (for a beach plum) purple fruit with good flavor.

‘Early Purple’ Beach Plum (Prunus maritima) - Selected by Jesse Stevens from his many seedling plants in Sweden, Maine. Smaller than ‘Premier’, but otherwise pretty similar. Overall most productive due to heavy fruit set and early ripening.

‘Late Purple’ Beach Plum (Prunus maritima) - Selected by Jesse Stevens from his many seedling plants in Sweden, Maine. Rivals ‘Premier’ for size and flavor, later ripening can be an issue if Brown Rot is a problem.

‘Beach Blonde’ Beach Plum (Prunus maritima) - Selected by Jesse Stevens from his many seedling plants in Sweden, Maine. Golden color variant. Smaller than the others.

This shrubby plum species, not only tolerates poor soils (as long as they are well drained) but resists insects and disease better then any other Prunus species i have grown. The fruit is about the size of a sweet cherry (with a smaller stone) and makes excellent jams, pies etc. Some individuals are also tasty out of hand.
