Caucasian Wild Beet (Beta trigyna) Seed Packet

$3.50

Seed packet contains 1/2 tsp seed, ~25 seeds. May greatly benefit from acid scarification! see below.

A neat Eurasian perennial vegetable, closely related to the domesticated Beet and Swiss Chard. The leaves are courser than their domesticated relatives, but are still good, especial when cooked or collected early in the spring. Full sun to part shade in well drained soil. Sow in spring.

These seeds have a very hard woody seed coat, which inhibits germination, you can greatly reduce this issue by soaking seeds in sulfuric acid for 3-5 hrs. Sulfuric acid can be purchased in the drain cleaner section of the hardware store and should be treated with extreme caution. Use protective gloves and goggles and only do this outdoors or in a very well ventilated place. Use a glass container for seeds and wash them after under running water for 10+ mins.
